Eye
Alignment (Credit Card Drill)
To make a consistent stroke in putting to the desired line,
the eyes play a significant role.
When we set up to aim the putter on a right angle to the desired
line, the eye line needs to match the line we intend to roll
the ball down.
For example; if you have a straight putt from 10 feet and
the putter is aimed in the middle of the hole, but the eyes
are angled off to the right of the hole, the tendency of most
players would be to swing the putter too inside out and miss
putts to the right of the hole.
With this credit card drill you can check the eye alignment
and give yourself the best chance to make more putts. First,
find a straight putt on a putting green and use some clubs
on the ground or a chalk line to get consistent aim of the
putter. It might also be a good idea to aim the ball with
a line on it. Even when using a range ball, they almost always
have line on them.

Once the
work station is set up, hit some putts with a credit card in
your teeth. Set up and aim the line on the putter to the line
on the ball. Place the credit card in your teeth and see if
you eyes are on that desired line.
In this photo, Trey is lined up with his eyes pointing to the
right. Even though you can't see the line of the putt in this
photo, you can see that his 'eye-line' is not in-line with his
shoulders. And when Trey looks down at the edge of the credit
card he can see that it points to the right of his putting line.

In this
photo, you can see that his 'eye-line' is in line with his
shoulders. And as he looks at the edge of the credit card,
it lines up with his putting line. If the eyes are aligned
properly it will give the best chance to deliver the putter
back to the ball at a 90 degree angle to the target. Then
of course it is all speed or distance control.
Go to dinner with great putters,
