Throw Drill

It works like this. Use a 6 or 7 iron and from a normal set up, place the ball back in the stance on the trailing foot. Start with the hands a little forward of the ball. The order of movement is to start the handle of the club moving first and then drag the club-head along the ground behind the handle and the ball will trap on the face of the club. You will feel the ball on the club-face for a short while and then it should go airborne to the target.

You should feel your forearms rotating and extending out to the target which should throw the ball in the air 20 yards or so.

This drill is great to feel what happens during impact with the handle of the club winning the
race. Then the forearm rotation after impact with width of the arms extending to the target. Go to a complete and balanced finish and watch the result.

(Note - if the ball goes too much to the left, the rotation of the arms is too early, or too much. I
f the ball goes to the right, the arms are not rotating enough. If the ball does not go very far, the lag in the club-head is not enough.)

After a few good ones, move the ball position back to normal and make some short backswings
and try to feel the same thing on through side of the ball. It should help move the speed of the
swing more through the ball and create a little draw.
